James Newberry specializes in writing for
museums, animal welfare groups, and political candidates. After
graduating from the University of Texas, Jim served on the Legislative
Staff of Phil Gramm and was the Campaign Manager or the Finance Director
in three congressional campaigns in Texas and Illinois.
Jim worked as an Account Executive for Fundraising Strategies in
1988-1989 and rejoined the staff in 2003. He recently won the
prestigious “Direct Mail Package of the Year”Award
from Fundraising SuccessMagazine for
his work on behalf of the Tuskegee Airmen. He has also has
won several Maxi Awards from the Direct
Mail Association of Washington, including in 2011 the Platinum "Big Idea" Award given to the two or three most innovative direct mail packages.
For political candidates, Jim has won two Pollie Awards for
excellence from the American Association of Political Consultants.
But he is probably best known for his work in producing the successful Which
Washington Does He Represent? TV ad campaign against Speaker of
the House Tom Foley in 1994.
